National Young Artists
Solo Competition

What is the National Young Artists Solo Competition?

This Summer the Sousa Foundation will be inviting one student from the National Honor Band to perform as the soloist on a concerto as part of the 2024 program.

What do I do if I want to audition for the

Solo Competition?

  • If a student wishes to be considered for the National Young Artists Solo Competition, they must perform the full work or movements listed. (Accompaniment is not required in your audition submission.)

  • To audition for the Solo Competition, the student must audition for the National Honor Band. (Please specify in your audition form that you are also auditioning for the Solo Competition.)

  • Audition music will not be provided by the National Honor Band and will be the auditionee's responsibility.

  • A student can still be selected for the National Honor Band even if they are not chosen as the winner of the Solo Competition.
